Firethorne West

Welcome to Firethorne, one of Katy, Texas’ large master planned subdivisions. This 1400-acre community started around 2005 and was designed by some of Texas’ most famous home builders such as Perry, David Weekly, Highland, Coventry, and Plantation.  It is one of the largest master planned subdivisions in Katy with over 1700 homes, still has new homes being built, and features a wide array of options from patio homes in gated sections to luxury estates.

The subdivision is named after an evergreen shrub with orange-red berries which is indigenous to the Texas prairie.  The goal was to blend with the best nature has to offer by offering 150 acres devoted to parks and recreational amenities.  Residents enjoy a scenic 12-acre lake with surrounding greenbelt, hike and bike trails, parks and playgrounds, wildlife observation areas, and a natural bird habitat.

Amenities include a resort-style multi-level family swim center, sports fields, tennis courts, lakes and trails, playgrounds, a competitive swim center, fitness facility, plus a neighborhood Community Center where residents can host many types of events and parties and features a catering kitchen, large overlook porches, and a garden pond area.  As if all these amenities aren’t enough, kids can join the Firethorne Firefish swim team or play lacrosse in the area’s first regulation lacrosse field.

Located on the far west side of Katy, its homes are zoned both Katy ISD and Lamar CISD, has a reasonable tax rate under 3% and is nearby local shopping, dining and event venues.  The tight-knit community feel, many community events, amenities, and location make Firethorne one of Katy’s most sought after subdivisions.
